Nationally it is now beyond doubt. Labor have won. Even if all of Western Australia were to go to the coalition, the required swing to the coalition in the other states would be virtually impossible. I’m declaring it…Labor have won, Kevin Rudd is the new prime minister.

This is also very close, some say John Howard is out, but I think it is far too close to call.

The coalition currently have a two seat advantage in Queensland, which isn’t going to be enough to get the Liberals over the line and we are very likely to see Kevin Rudd declare at 9:30. Channel Nine have just given the election to Labor.

Nationally it’s looking very good for Labor:
Labor 53
Coalition 32
Independent 1
Queensland still hasn’t produced a definitive result, but it looks like Queensland and Western Australia will be the places which decide the result. The bottom line is that the coalition need to win these states to win the election. If the Queensland results don’t show a swing to the coalition within the next hour, you can expect Kevin Rudd to claim victory at about 9:30…otherwise it will probably be 10:30 or 11pm before we can be sure enough of the result to see a leader claim victory.

Nationally Labor are winning by enough to easily win this election at this stage

By the looks of it this is not an “actual win” figure but an “estimated win” from the AEC. They have given both ACT seats to Labor.

Labor are doing extremely well in New South Wales. However with this margin it could come down to the votes from WA, which will mean a very very long night indeed.

Queensland is the bogey state. If things continue at this rate then Labor will need to win the majority of seats in Queensland to win the election. Otherwise, unless WA swings heavily, things look good for the coalition.
November 24th, 2007 at 07:08pm
The Liberals are leading Labor in Canberra 43-36 votes.
Labor are leading the Liberals in Fraser 341-242
The Liberals now lead Eden Monaro by 1914-1593. If the gap keeps up at this rate this good be a good bel–whether omen for the Liberals.
The Liberals lead Hume 2293-1652
No votes currently counted in the ACT senate
The only states yet to close their polls are the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
