After a pretty poor start to the season last week, it’s time for another (hopefully better) round.

The footy season is back, as are my footy tips…now a quick word of warning, before you consider using my tips, you might want to check my past performance, and then try to work out which half of my tips are wrong!

It’s all over for another year…and it looks like I came out just ahead of the 50% line, with my NRL tipping being just slightly better than my AFL tipping. This is also the only weekend of the year where I managed a perfect score in both competitions!

Only one weekend to go, and it’s the weekend that gives teams gloating rights for the next 52 weeks!

The weekend that just passed was a mixed bag for me, as people who followed Loki’s updates in the recent Footy Tipping post would know all about. My AFL tips were spot on, but the NRL tips were only slightly above negative territory…a very round figure.

AFL Finals Week 3: 2/2 (100%)
NRL Finals Week 3: 0/2 (0%)
Week Total: 2/4 (50%)

Totals:
AFL: 96/184 (52.17%)
NRL: 99/188 (52.66%)
Total: 195/372 (52.42%)

This now puts my AFL percentage within striking distance of my NRL percentage, but only if I correctly tip the winner of the AFL Grand Final, and fail to tip the winner of the NRL Grand Final. The possibilities are as follows:

AFL (0) and NRL (0):
AFL: 51.89%
NRL: 52.38%

AFL (1) and NRL (0):
AFL: 52.43%
NRL: 52.38%

AFL (0) and NRL (1):
AFL: 51.89%
NRL: 52.91%

AFL (1) and NRL (1):
AFL: 52.43%
NRL: 52.91%

For the record, my ACTAFL tips for the year were fantastic (much to the delight of the Swans Reserves):

ACTAFL Grand Final

The ACTAFL Grand Final should get underway at Manuka Oval shortly, with the Belconnen Magpies up against the Sydney Swans Reserves. Sydney are undefeated this year (and last year too apparently), whilst Belconnen won the three premierships before that.

I’m tipping Belconnen to win, the only real reason being that last year when Sydney won the ACTAFL Grand Final they also won the AFL Grand Final…and as I intend on tipping West Coast to defeat Sydney win the AFL Grand Final this year, I also shall tip Belconnen to defeat Sydney, and influence the AFL Grand Final by omen.

Perhaps I’m nuts, but go the Magpies!

I think this week’s results show that, the less matches played, the easier it is to have a really good or really bad weekend. Thankfully I didn’t have the latter!

The finals continue this weekend, and I am pleased to be able to announce that 2CA will be doing something they rarely ever do, broadcasting night-time AFL matches…it’s just as well really, all the matches are at night, although I must say it is very unusual (good, but unusual) for them to not have their live “Jukebox Saturday Night” request show.

Well that concludes the Home And Away season in both competitions, now it is on to the finals, and my tipping will continue until the end. The weekend which just passed was very good overall…if only I’d gone for the Storm in the NRL…would have had a perfect round then, but not to worry. The AFL was a bit more disappointing, but the doggies won, so I can’t be too upset.
