John B1_B5 leads the 2CC Drive Show spelling competition
November 14th, 2005 at 03:46pm
John B1_B5 is in the lead this afternoon with 8 correctly spelled words in 60 seconds.
There are four more places left in the spelling competition, and the rules are simple. Listen to Mike Welsh on 2CC and wait for the cue to call, there will be another one next hour and another one in the hour after that, and when you hear it, be one of the first two callers through on 62554444. The person who spells the most words correctly in their 60 seconds wins tickets to an exclusive 2CC movie screening (I think).
EDIT: Whoops, forgot that you can also win a holiday.

Seems I’m no longer in the lead ….. somebody just got 10 ………

Yes, they were good, but you did pretty well too. I’m staying away from that competition today because I have no intention of being humiliated. I stumbled on a lot of those words, but that could be because I have trouble concentrating on what I’m spelling when somebody else is also spelling it out loud.

There was supposed to be more spelling B’s on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday …. but they failed to materialise !

Hmmm, that’s odd! Can’t say I’ve heard a huge amount of the drive show this week, just bits and pieces really.

I can guarantee there have been no more spelling ‘bees’ since Monday ……. I suppose people are somewhat reticent to be heard spelling words incorrectly over the radio ….. hence a lack of callers . Oh well ….. I’m still in SECOND place ….. maybe I’ll win something (but I ain’t driving all the way out to Mitchell to pick up my prize ) .

I most certainly heard one on Tuesday, although I could be sure that I heard a cue to call and no competition on one occasion, but I left the radio for eight minutes including the news just after it so…
