Samuel’s Musicians Of The Week

September 11th, 2005 at 07:12pm

The award this week goes to Dragon (in their original lineup) and the feature song from them this week is Are You Old Enough?. I will say right now that you really have to hear the song to understand why I have chosen it as the feature song.

Ten years in the gaoler’s eye
And I’m thinking ’bout my baby,
Lookin’ at my life go by

Fallin’ in the streets of Rome
And I’m laughing at the poor man, Talking to the blind man

See the lady in the street car lights
Colour a’la Toulouse
Television and a red red wine
So won’t you tell me, won’t you tell me the truth

Are you old enough?
Are you old enough?
Are you old enough?
Are you old enough?
Are you old enough? (woo hoo)
Are you old enough? (whoa oh)

Time goes and here we stand
Laughin’ at the sideshow
Sinking in the quicksand (quicksand)

The other side of another world
Scratch my back for the coloured girl
Yeah, oh yeah

I just wanted to kiss someone
I got the moondog blues
You just happened to be standing there
So won’t you tell me
Won’t you tell me the truth

Are you old enough?
Are you old enough?
Are you old enough?
Are you old enough?
Are you old enough? (woo ooh)
Are you old enough? (whoa oh)

See the lady in the street car lights
Colour a’la Toulouse
Television and a red red wine
So won’t you tell me, won’t you tell me the truth

Are you old enough?
Are you old enough?
Are you old enough? (woo ooh)
Are you old enough?
Are you old enough?
Are you old enough?

Ten years in the gaoler’s eye
And I’m thinking ’bout my baby,
Lookin’ at my life go by

Yes, he (lead singer Marc Hunter) did die of throat cancer. He was there from the beginning to the end, and when the band eventually split for the final time in 1989 it was due to his throat cancer diagnosis, sadly he died later that year.

Wikipedia has a pretty good writeup on them.
