John Stanley second in line to the throne!

2UE have today proven that John Stanley’s previous go at filing in for John Laws on a public holiday was not just a desperate attempt by 2UE to fill some air time in the absence of a lot of people…John Stanley is now officially the third person in line to host the John Laws Morning Show, behind John Laws and Tim Webster.
John Laws returned from holiday on Tuesday, and is today unwell, his usual replacement Tim Webster is far too busy working with Channel Ten preparing their coverage of the AFL Grand Final to dash in to 2UE, so 2UE’s afternoon presenter John Stanley took over the show.
This further proves my theory that 2UE are likely to offer John Stanley the morning shift when Lawsie eventually retires. It’ll be a hard choice between Stanley and Webster, both of which do an excellent job, but I think John Stanley will be the most likely option due to Tim Webster’s ongoing comittment to Channel Ten.
Steve Liebmann is likely to host John Stanley’s show this afternoon.

Actually, John Stanley did the morning show AND the afternoon show.

Word around the Radio traps is that Laws will have to be carried out of the 2UE studio on a stretcher before his morning spot comes up for grabs .

Yes, well John Stanley doing both shifts was most unexpected…maybe they should just send Steve Price home and have him do Drive as well!
Just after the 1pm news John Stanley mentioned that people had rung in to ask whether or not John had any lunch…I was one of those people, I called at about 12:30 and one of his producers told me that he \”might\” have had a snack during the 1pm news, and that they would keep him hydrated and fed with plenty of water and snacks.
As it turns out, John had a chocolate bar for lunch (and silly me, I\’ve forgotten the name if it) and 2UE\’s Program Director misspelled John\’s name in a staff memo thanking him for filling in for Lawsie…John Stanley has been renamed John Stanely…this prompted a playing of John\’s \”who are you\” tape, containing dozens of callers referring to him as \”Mike\”, \”Stan\”, \”David\”, \”Who\’s this?\”, \”err..um, I spoke to you yesterday\” etc.
To John\’s credit, he is handling the six hour shift quite well…who knows, he might just have what it takes to fill in on one of 2UE\’s overnight or weekend shifts…maybe he could fill in for Stuart Bocking from midnight until 5:30, have a nap and then repeat today\’s six hour after-mor-noon-ing show.

John Stanley is a professional broadcaster and he sure doesn’t need any ‘mollycoddling’ for doing 2 shifts back to back, haha.
