I’m glad that I stayed back late at the station today because while I was sitting down doing some audio editing I heard a song start playing on the air which I recognised at once as “the Mike Jeffreys cowboy music”, which was also used for a little while for the “Friday yee-hah”.

By the way, I’m considering breaking with my standard “three month policy” for Aircheck Sunday of only putting airchecks online once they’re three months or more old, and putting a 2QN Breakfast aircheck online for Aircheck Sunday this weekend…if I do, it’ll be breakfast from Wednesday which I have already spent an inordinate amount of time uploading for the reference of certain people.
And on the subject of 2QN breakfast, it has been a fun week so far, and I’m looking forward to another busy morning tomorrow. I must say a big thank you to 2GB’s Jason Morrison, a thoroughly decent bloke, as he has agreed to come on the show tomorrow morning to have a bit of a chinwag about the issues (serious or otherwise) of the week. Jason has been very supportive of me while I have tried to build a career in the radio industry, and I doubt that I can express how much I appreciate his support and advice, and his willingness to volunteer his time tomorrow morning.
Anyhoo, back to dinner for me. I should try to get some sleep at some stage I suppose.

You sounded good this morning Samuel! And don’t you just hate it when you’re reading copy (that someone else has authored) only to find it doesn’t make any sense? It can be as simple as a misplaced comma, but it can really throw you out!
Let us know when will you be talking to Jason and I will try to tune in!

I didn’t know that 2QN’s signal stretched that far Padders! ’tis nice to know. And thanks for tuning in.
I think I know which incident you’re referring to…the 6:50ish onwards “On The Land”? I really should pre-read the stuff better but I didn’t have any time this morning…plus I was thrown out by the computer going wonky…yes of course I want the rural news to start playing as soon as the weather intro finishes, because then I get to reinsert it in the log whilst trying to read the weather.
Jason’s coming on at approximately 8:35, straight after the local news, but I’d imagine you’ll be out of the coverage area by that time of the day?

Oh drat – yes, I will be not only out of range, but in the office (out of all AM range, I’m afraid).
It was indeed the ‘On The Land’ segment that I managed to catch.
It was quite funny this morning. I wanted to tune in, but I couldn’t for the life of me remember the kHz of 2QN. So I jumped on the net, found out where you are on the dial, and then, of course, I couldn’t find a radio where there was a wide enough calibration between the frequencies…until I found a digital one – in the car, of course! You were loud and clear.
I must admit I had to switch over to 2GB after 7am, as I wanted to hear as much as I could of the interview Alan had with Peter Costello. PC was his usual irrepressible self. Great interview.

The 6am hour was an interesting one…less ads than I was expecting so I had to fill it out with (poorly written) content…and then there was the interview with the seeds bloke. I’ll quite happily admit that I know almost nothing about seeds or the seed industry, so trying to form questions from a page of notes while rearranging stuff in the log for the hour was fun. We got through it though, and the seed bloke was good talent anyway as he was able to talk and talk and talk with minimal prodding, and it was all relevant and somewhat interesting.
I haven’t caught up with the Peter Costello interview yet, but will try to do so soon. Thanks for letting me know about it.

You might be interested to know that the “yeehah” is only in the album version of And When I Die, when it was originally released as a single in 1969 the instrumental break with the “yeehah” was edited out. Nowadays you can only get the “yeehah” version, although I have the edited one on a 1981 UK greatest hits vinyl record.
