Sleeping

Good afternoon John,

The easiest way for me to fall asleep when I'm not tired is to lie down in a darkened room, and try to stay awake. Unfortunately I have to tell you that I usually try to stay awake by listening to the radio.

Of course if I am tired, I just have to close my eyes for a few moments and the next thing I know it's at least eight hours later.

Regards,
Samuel Gordon-Stewart

So you are admitting that your favourite radio station and presenters are so boring they put you to sleep….

No, they’re not boring, I’ve always gone to sleep with the radio on, well ever since early childhood anyway…I can’t really get to sleep easily without some noise if I’m not overly tired.

Usually I’ll just doze off after listening to the radio for half an hour or so…and usually during the ads, but it’s a bit like people who fall asleep when they’re reading books in bed, they enjoy the book they’re reading, but they still doze off.

Still, my initial comment about falling asleep to the radio was supposed to be a bit of a light-hearted joke, and I suspect your comment was too.

If I wanted something to bore me to death (or sleep), there’s a nice little local ABC station down the other end of the dial.

The easiest way for me to go to sleep is to pop four Mersyndol.

That would certainly do the trick.

I play Barry Manilow records backwards and check for devil messages, that usually bores me to sleep.
If that fails a warm cup of yaks milk and a copy of the latest Watchtower magazine dulls my mind for sleep.
