I had given up on predicting when the prime minister will call the election, but in the last few days I have come to the conclusion that I believe I know when the election will be called, so I will predict it.
The Governor-General will be back in Canberra on Friday, and I believe that if John Howard were to leave the announcement until Friday or later, he would suffer another round of “why haven’t you called the election yet?” taunts, and so I believe he will try to catch everyone by surprise on Thursday by announcing the date, and then he will ask the Governor-General to dissolve the relevant section of parliament on Friday.
This would make the election date either November 17th, November 24, December 1, December 8 or December 15, and I believe John Howard will choose November 24.
As it stands, if John Howard does announce the election on Thursday, 2CC’s Mike Welsh owes me a Kit Kat, and if John Howard announces the election on Friday I owe Mike a Kit Kat. I’m not entirely sure if we will owe each other a Kit Kat if Mr. Howard doesn’t call the election on either day.

Pen, it doesn’t bother me. Whenever the election is called, I will then be given an amount of time to deal with. I’m ready when John Howard is.
In reply to your other question Pen, and your comment act, I’m not happy with the amount of time I have been able to dedicate to answering questions or writing press releases this week. I’m not going to have time this afternoon, and possibly not much time this evening, but I am not going to sleep until I answer all of the questions that have been asked of me on this blog and by email, and then if I’m not too tired, I’ll try and answer questions which have been asked on other websites.

I can appreciate that youre a busy chap, Sam.
But act is absolutely spot on. Given the fact you can find time to compose and publish inane emails to radio hosts but not even acknowledge a policy question from “the people” makes you appear to be either an uncaring, or unprepared candidate.
I’ve no doubt you are a very caring and fully prepared candidate, but appearances go a long way.

Caring…I would like to think so. Fully prepared…I doubt it. I’m trying, but as you have both worked out, I still have a lot of work to do, and properly allocating time to answering questions would be a good start.
I do have to disagree with you about the emails to radio presenters being inane though.

As an ACT resident I want to know how emails to talk show hosts in SYDNEY who are on air when I am normally ASLEEP are going to make you worthy to represent the people of Fraser?

Oh dear, I can’t win can I? I either get berated for sleeping, or berated for being awake.
Act, none of the emails are designed to make me any more or less worthy to represent the people of Fraser, many of them have absolutely no bearing on electoral matters, but some of them carry my opinions on newsworthy issues.
I think the important thing here is that the majority of these Sydney based presenters are broadcasting in to Canberra, and your decision to sleep should not dictate whether or not I can send an email to someone.
