Sydney

I’m going to be up in Sydney for the rest of today and most of tomorrow, mainly for John Kerr’s 2UE Listener Lunch [1] (there are still a few spaces left if you want to come, see the linked article for details). John Kerr, Stuart Bocking and over a hundred of their listeners will be there, and it has even been rumoured that Tim Webster may turn up…we’ll wait and see.

I have a flight up to Sydney later this morning, it is the first time I’ve been on an aeroplane and I’m looking forward to it.

With any luck I’ll have far too many photos for your enjoyment on Wednesday, although I suspect Thursday is more likely.

I haven’t had enough time to prepare much blog material for the next few days, however you do have an episode of Samuel’s Persiflage [2] waiting for you to enjoy.

If you happen to be in Sydney and spot me, feel free to say hello. For security reasons I am not publishing details about my itinerary.

Have a great couple of days, I know I will!

Samuel

Good luck with your flight, Sambo. I’m only an occaisional flyer and take-offs and landings always boggle my toggle with fear.

I hope you have a great time at the luncheon.

Throw a plate at Tim Webster for me.

The take-off wasn’t too bad, it was the landing which scared me. There was so much cloud and rain about that I didn’t realise we were near the airport until I spotted the Sydney Harbour Bridge…but then we flew quite low over buildings and I didn’t know how far away from the airport we were, and there is water right before the runway.

The flight was very good, although I’m a bit concerned that I was told I would need to show photo ID to board the plane, and I haven’t had to show photo ID for anything at all yet.

Adam, why would I do that?

“For security reasons I am not publishing details about my itinerary.”

For security reasons? What security reasons?

I can understand you not wanting to publish the exact details of your exact itinerary, but for security reasons???

This isn’t Iraq, Samuel.

If it was Iraq I don’t think it would matter if I published my itinerary or not.

What nost people don’t see is that I do have small bunch of people who dislike me and enjoy making sure I’m aware of it by email. I have published my itinerary on a previous trip and thought you deserved a reason as to why I wasn’t doing so again.

Regarding Tim Webster – He won a “Best Radio Broadcaster” award in 2006.

I remember that John, a very prestigious award too if memory serves me correctly.

Yes it was Samuel …. it was presented by The Koala Club.

PS – Keep your itinerary ‘under your hat’. You never who’s ‘out there’ !

That should be – “You never know who’s out there” !

By the way – When you fly back, see if you can find out what sort of aircraft it is .

It was a Boeing 737 John. Not sure of any more specific details than that, apart from the fact it was newer than the 737 I flew to Sydney on.

A Boeing 737 ? Ok ….. that’s a big improvement over the British Aerospace BAe146.
