What drives me nuts

Good afternoon John,

What drives me nuts is the way some shopping centres (some Westfield's in particular), when they page someone over the intercom to go to the information desk, actually tell you which shopping centre the information desk is in (ie. the one you're standing in). Do they really think that if they page someone, that person will rush off to the information desk of a different shopping centre?

Regards,

Dear Samuel

I can understand how this may not make sense to you.

But why do you care so much?

It seems rather inocuous to me.

John Stanley’s weekly “What Drives You Nuts” segment is for a weekly light hearted look at things people find annoying or odd but wouldn’t normally bother to talk about. It is (mostly) for entertainment.

I didn’t manage to get my say about the ‘You Tube problem’ because couldn’t get through.

Some malls do join into others though. For example, Westfield CentrePoint in Sydney is connected to other adjoining malls. So, this might just be a company wide policy (that the other malls follow blindly) that stems from the possibility that people in one mall can still hear the loudspeaker from another mall.

That would explain it…but making it a company wide policy is silly, as it sounds like they’re reminding the customers which shopping centre they are in. (Some of them might need the reminder, but most people can at least work that out for themselves).
