Complete The Story

February 19th, 2007 at 10:15am

In an email selling “Viawagra” and “Valwum”, a nice friendly spammer sent me a confused story about gambling.

Boys, said Mr. Weasley under his breath, I dont want you betting…
Thats all your savings … Your mother
Dont be a spoilsport, Arthur! boomed Ludo Bagman, rattling his

Rattling his what? and did the boys end up gambling away their life savings to the delight of Arthur and the dismay of Mr. Weasley and mother? Would anybody like to complete the story?

Hmmm … sounds a bit like that newsreader who changes R’s into
    W’s — such as –
“The wabbit in the hollo wog ” (The rabbit in the hollow log).

Is this an excerpt from one of the Harry Potter series?
John B1_B5’s comment reminds me of a joke involving Elmer Fudd.
    Elmer says;
    “What’s a wok?”
    Answer:
“It’s what you throw at a wabbit when yout wifle doesn’t work.”

Wouldn’t have a clue what book the spammers extracted it from. It could be Harry Potter, but I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter series so there’s no point asking me!

John, Catherine Garrett by any chance?

I also wonder…would they send me the rest of the story if I were to buy some of their viawagra?

Well, I wasn’t going to mention any names… but ….

Not that I’m saying Catherine is not a good presenter – she does a good job – It’s just that there was a time when you would never have heard an announcer on the ABC pronouncing ‘rabbit’ as ‘wabbit’ .
She is obviously an example of the new ‘equal opportunity’ ABC we have today, and to be perfectly honest, it beats listening to those pseudo pommie accents of yesteryear.

Still…..it would be interesting to hear Catherine singing that song John Stanley plays every so often –
“Run rabbit run rabbit run run run “.

OR – She could try this one –

Round the rugged rocks the ragged rascals ran.

It might sound something like this –
“Wound the wugged wocks the wagged wascals wan ” .
