Thanks Loki. It’s funny you mention Bunnings, because they’ve been “sponsoring” the football coverage on one of my imaginary radio stations.

UPDATE 11:28AM:

Swans: 0
Eagles: 0

Unfortunately, our Bunnings sponsorship does not stretch to putting Mike Frame up in the plane, however, later in the match we will be sending a radio control helicopter over the ground with a podcast recorder attached and Samuel’s digital camera.

This is Loki live from the Nice Garden at Reid, with thanks to Black and Gold Pineapple Pieces for sponsoring this update.

END UPDATE.

The TAC Cup Grand Final, for Bunnings Warehouse where lowest prices are just the beginning, and Shoprite Supermarkets…we don’t exist any more but Framey still shops here by video link, on Samuel’s Blog:

The curtain raiser to the AFL Grand Final has completed, with Oakleigh Chargers winning their first ever premiership, they defeated the Calder Cannons 19.16 (130) to 16.7 (103).

In broadcaster news, 3AW are running their pre-match show as an outside broadcast from outside the MCG. At 2pm they will be crossing to their broadcast box where Rex Hunt, Clinton Grybas and the team will call the match. 2UE will be joining 3AW at 2pm.

Overseas, US residents with access to the live coverage will, depending on their timezone, have either a primetime coverage of the Grand Final, or a middle of the night coverage. People in Leo Laporte’s timezone on the west coast are the lucky ones, with the 2:30pm start being broadcast live at 9:30pm local time.

This is Samuel Gordon-Stewart reporting from Samuel’s Blog HQ, and as Rex would say…Dilmah, do try it!

I am still waiting for an update Loki. How has won?

#10 Comment By Loki On October 1, 2006 @ 8:10 pm

Working on it Chuck – a very odd game to try and decipher Rugby League!

UPDATE 9:04pm:

Melbourne 8
Tries
Steve Turner 14m
Matt King 49m

Brisbane 15
Tries
Justin Hodges 20m
Brent Tate 62m

Conversions
Darren Lockyer 21m
Penalties
Darren Lockyer 10m
Corey Parker 60m
Field Goals
Darren Lockyer 73m

I had the Aussie Rules Grand Final all figured out when it was nil-all – after the scoring started I had to hand-ball the updates to Samuel. This Rugby League caper is far more complicated, and if anyone can tell me what all these numbers mean, and which religion they converted to (I presume Billy Graham mass crowd stadium style) during the match, that would be much appreciated.

Oh, and I think that makes it two from two for Samuel’s Grand Final pics – if he had only started his footy tipping at this stage of the season he would have had 100 per cent hit rate!

#13 Comment By Chuck A. Spear On October 1, 2006 @ 9:47 pm

I am not sure what all the number mean either. I think (m) means minutes.

Will Samuel also keep us updated on the rape and assualt charges that will stem from “Mad Monday” and the end-of-season trips to Bali?

#14 Comment By Samuel On October 1, 2006 @ 10:00 pm

Chuck, I’m sure that the mainstream media will be more than capable of handling any such updates.

Loki, Chuck is right, “m” means minutes.

Brisbane won 15 points, to Melbourne’s 8. Brisbane scored two tries (worth four points each), “converted” one of them (ie. kicked the goal after the try) worth two points, got two penalty goals (also worth two points each) and one field goal, woth one point.

Melbourne scored two tries worth four points each, but failed to score in any other way.

#15 Comment By Chuck A. Spear On October 1, 2006 @ 10:33 pm

Or could (m) mean metres?

#16 Comment By Loki On October 1, 2006 @ 11:32 pm

Thank you for the clairification Samuel – it all makes particularly more sense.

Although, at Chuck’s A Spear’s bidding, after watching the game with the televison sound turned down and the Triple J broadcast blaring, if anything I am more confused.

It just seemed like some heavily built men running around, colliding with each other, falling over, standing up and then doing it all again.

Samuel, would you ever consider doing a similar paralle broadcast in the spirit of Roy and HG? They make far too many odd and Bawdy comments for my tastes.

I take it from your IP address that you’re in New South Wales somewhere Loki, in which case I would suggest that you would have understood what was going on in the match a tad better if you had tuned into either 2GB, their relay station in your area, or your local ABC…all of which were covering the match.
