Interesting Article About Me

Recently I agreed to be interviewed about my life by The Editor of GrodsCorp [1]. The interviews took place by email, and have resulted in a rather interesting article about me [2], which does appear to give you a bit of the background story of my life.

I saw the article about you on GrodsCorp and thought “its about time” Samuel (even though you have seen fit not to publish a couple of my posts). I log on here every day to check out what you have been up to and listen to Samuels Persiflage whenever you release a new one. I think its safe to say that your site is now part of quite a few peoples lives. Must make you feel goo hey mate?

That article really is incredibly interesting, Samuel, most of all because it gives us so much information about your background which I at least certainly did not previously know.

The part I am really curious to know about is how and why you were considered a “vicious monster” on the school computer system?

On other points:

A lot of people seem to prefer Rudd, but I’ve been prejudiced against him after reading what Latham had to see about him in his diaries, particularly that Rudd’s popularity was based among people who’d never met him.

Oh, and Samuel, it would certainly be perfectly possible for you to find somewhere to move to where you could have Nattie with you if you wanted – not that I would expect you to!

Sam

Great article and so interesting to learn a bit more about ‘where’ you come from. Did you find being interviewed for the article an interesting process? Do you think you were fairly represented?

I think I speak for all your other readers when I say that we are all keen to get to know the inner workings of Samuel more. I’ve said it before but please add some more stories about your family and your perspective on things.

Great job!

I also forgot to ask you whether Firefox could be the reason that I can’t listen to Persiflage anymore? I used to be able to download it fine with Explorer….

lucylou, it works fine for me in Firefox.

I’ll reply to the other comments a bit later on.

Oh …. I forgot to mention …. only members of “Australia – The Land Down Under” will be able to hear “lammer gee ” because the audio file is in the Documents section .

Is this the right forum to be promoting your site on John?

Aunty_Jack, I certainly didn’t expect to have any impact on anybody’s life except my own when I started blogging, so it is nice to know that I do have a loyal audience.

As explained by email, the comment spam filter has been a bit overzealous on your comments, it seems to be letting them through now, but if it gives me more trouble it will be scrapped.

Mark, in hindsight I would say it was one of those teenage pushing the boundary things. It’s not something I’m proud of and is certainly not something I would ever repeat, but I’d rather not make the details public. (Although I can think of a certain teacher librarian who would love the world to know about that, plus some false stories about me…I should know, she tried to prevent me from having any access to the computers at Dickson College by ringing the IT coordinator and giving him a fright. In the end, and after a chat, he (the IT coordinator) trusted me and I think I earned it. It would be fair to say that I learnt from my mistakes)

I’ve taken a lot of what Latham said with a grain of salt since he left the leadership, that being said I can understand why people dislike Rudd.

I think the point I was trying to make about Nattie is that I couldn’t live elsewhere without her, knowing that she would be wondering where I am (she does get worried when any family member is absent for an extended period of time such as overnight), and I couldn’t take her with me as she would miss Mum & Dad…I just couldn’t do it to her.

Lucylou, I did indeed find it interesting, in fact I had quite a bit of fun answering the questions as it enabled me to look back on my life so far. I also think I gained a bit from the experience, and it was quite refreshing to see my story retold through the eyes and interpretation of an “outsider”.

I will certainly see about adding more things about myself and my family.

Getting back to the Firefox issue, Internet Explorer integrates Windows Media Player as a plugin which simplifies the playing process. To the same extent, Firefox has a number of available plugins for playing auido and video content within the browser. I personally make use of the quicktime plugin, although Firefox is supposed to support Windows Media Player as well.

Of course you could just save the Persiflage MP3 to your hard drive and play it from there. Or you could even right click on the link to it, choose “copy link location” (Copy shortcut in Internet Explorer) and then paste that address into whatever audio player you would prefer to use (Windows Media Player, Quicktime, Winamp, etc).
