Rowan Barker returns to work

Why those criminals stabbed you I do not know. You look like such a jolly man. One can only hope that irony will prevail. They will be brought to justice and when they are, you can read their lengthy sentences out for us all to hear.

Sorry to get off the topic. I have heard some information on Rosetta and the new Intel Duo Macs.

I didn’t hear the details properly on Seven this evening, but I believe the people who “allegedly” stabbed Rowan are facing court on attempted murder charges.

Oh, do tell Chuck.

Getting back to Rowan. Just wondering if in the event he does have to read out the sentences of the criminals who stabbed him (because the news editor did not realise) how would he say it?

Would he say. ‘In news just in. Two men have been sentenced to ten years hard labour for stabbing me in my driveway.’

Or would he talk about himself in the third person and say ‘In news just in. Two men have been sentenced to ten years hard labour for stabbing news reader Rowan Barker in his driveway.’

Would it be a conflict of interest if he accidently (by error of an editor whose attention to detail was poor) had to read out news concerning himself?

I heard that Rosetta only runs natively at 50% on the Core Duos.

I think Jason Morrison works in the morning, I couldn’t imagine him making that kind of error.

It is an interesting question though, it’s not the kind of story you can just skip (especially with Macquarie news being distributed to many regional stations), and it would sound very odd if 2GB suddenly had a different newsreader, so how do you approach that kind of story?

Anybody know?

Personally, I’d just give Rowan the day of when the verdict and/or sentencing are due.

(Disclaimer: This conversation is hypothetical, nobody here is preempting the court system. The people who are alleged to have stabbed Rowan remain innocent until a court proves them otherwise.)

I only thought of it because I was watching the ‘first a five’ Ten News the other day (Melbourne) and Mal Walden (news reader) was interviewing Paul Mullet (Police Union boss). It was a story regarding the terrible stabbing murders of two sisters. The person responsible was later shot and killed by a West Australian policeman.

While interviewing, Mal got emotional and seemed to blame the Victorian police. This seemed out of character for Mal. I wondered about this and thought that maybe Mal knew the victims families. Upon further investgation I found out that one of the victims worked at Channel Ten as a graphic artist and it was more than likely Mal did know the victim.

As to my above posts the two accused men have not been found guilty until proved otherwise by a court of law.

I am not saying that Rowan would get emotional. I would give him the day off too Samuel.

Hey, what gives, I make a statement wishing Rowan the best and saying that I’ve admired his previous work and it gets “moderated”.

Except you confused him with Rowan Atkinson again, and asked “Any word on whether he’ll be doing another series of Mr Bean?”.

I just don’t think we need to go down that path in this discussion…it’s good to see you wishing Rowan (Barker) all the best though.

Is there any evidence that the alleged perpetrators had listened to Samuel’s Persiflage before they allegedly stabbed the radio announcer, and, if this was the case, is it likely the judge will take into account the fact they were very probably acting under the influence of subliminal messages?

It could just be speculation, but several people who have downloaded and listened to the Persiflage – especially backwards – have been prone to indulging in some very bizarre behaviour.

From memory the horrible event occured before I released Samuel’s Persiflage.

Also, I had it independently examined, and there are no subliminal messages.

Actually, I disagree. The Persiflage has the power to influence a modern-day Manson. Helter-Skelter has nothing on the powerful Persiflage.

I recall Mark Chapman was carrying the novel The Catcher in the Rye at the time he shot John Lennon … I can only wonder how many ticking time bombs have Samuel’s Persiflage downloaded on their iPods – I shudder to think where they will go off and what they could be capable of …

Other than singing along with the old Samuel’s Persiflage intro, I doubt that it would cause anything unusual. As I keep saying, I have had it independently tested for subliminal messages and it does not contain any.
