Construction In Civic

November 25th, 2005 at 06:17pm

The Section 84 development in Civic is certainly progressing well, and seeing as I took a photo of it a while back and was walking passed it with a camera today, I thought I might give you an update on it’s progress.

Here it is on October 4, 2005
Section 84

And here it is from an angle which allows me to take more meaningful photos today (Nearly two months after the last photo).

The building on the left of the photo is the same one shown in the first photo.

Here is a picture showing two buildings.

Are the construction workers aliens?

There is still plenty of work to do though.

Samuel I am a bit concerned that you didn’t put copyright notices on these ones. As I said, there are all kinds of lowdown crooks that will steal your stuff.

There is actually a copyright notice at the bottom of the page, but I’m not overly concerned about these pictures. The 2CC Outside Broadcast photos needed the copyright notice as I got the distinct impression that the people involved with the broadcast didn’t want the photos to be redistributed.

    What are they building ?
An excellent shot of the Crane ! Can I put a copy of that on my site ? ( You’ll get credit of course ).

I believe they are building a new shopping precinct which, due to QIC ownership, could be called another bit of the Canberra Centre. I think this will have some new theatres and cafes and maybe some other shops, not quite sure though (should have plenty of paid parking).

Yes, you may use it, thankyou for asking.

Note: Permission to use photos on this site will usually be granted once people ask, but on some occasions I may say no.

Thanks …. I’ve tilted it a few degrees anti-clockwise to ‘straighten it up’ . It’s a good shot of the “Men from Marr’s” crane. (I guess you used your zoom lens for that one ) .

  • 6. Samuel  |  November 25th, 2005 at 11:01 pm

Yes I did, I could have zoomed in a bit more but I wanted to capture the surrounding crane as well.

Yeah, great shot . My digi camera is so basic it doesn’t even have a zoom lens !

Really? That’s a pity. My old camera which looks similar to the camera you had when we both took photos of the 2CC Kingswood had a small zoom lens, but it used up batteries very very quickly.

Mine’s a bit heavy on batteries as well, but it was sent to me from the US as a gift, so I guess I can’t complain. It was a ‘special’ at Walmart for $99.

I read the history of The Men From Marr’s that posted on Australia – The Land Down Under, John and it is most fascinating.

It can be seen at http://groups.msn.com/Australia-TheLandDownUnder/pictureboard.msnw?action=get_message&mview=0&ID_Message=1631&ID_CLast=1631&CDir=1

Yes, a very innovative Australian company that has been able to achieve things that other Australian construction companies haven’t been able to do.

    Samuel,

The spelling “it’s” is correct when used as a contraction, however as a possessive pronoun “its” does not have an apostrophe.

Love the photos by the way. And some people claim Canberrans are a boring lot. Chumps.

    kind regards,
    Fisty

Thankyou fisting dwarves, I am aware of that but the wrong usage does creep in at times.
