  • I can't believe Centrebet are offering $3.10 for Romney to win, and $1.36 for Obama. Have they (or Aussie punters?) not seen the polls? #

If it’s so unbelievable put your money where your mouth is. Place $1000 on Romney to win.

Maybe Centrebet is not like you: so brainwashed by partisan rhetoric as to be unable to view the election with any sort of objectivity.

Unless you believe they’re also run by the Left, and not out to make a profit.

    Hello Frank,

Actually, I believe there is another reason for it. Australians in general don’t take an overly active interest in US politics and many would not know that the contest is as close as it is. Obama has rather good personal popularity out here and people are likely to bet on him for that reason. The bookies are merely working on that basis.

And for what it’s worth, once I saw the odds which were on offer, I did bet on Romney…but I don’t have $1,000 to spare. My tweet was designed to alert other people who do take an active interest to US politics of the very generous odds on offer.
