2UE at the Royal Easter Show

Just a quick note to say that 2UE will be at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney today.

I’m leaving Canberra shortly to go there, and hope to see Stuart Bocking who is currently hosting the Breakfast show while I’m there. If I have a chance, I will post some photos later in the day.

If you’re going, I’ll be loitering near the 2UE stand for a little while this morning. Feel free to say hello.

Samuel

Hello Samuel,
You do realize there’s a law about such behavior?.

Many eons ago, when I was working at the Redfern Mail Exchange, the PMG (pre-commision; ie not post days :> ),
I was rostered on on several ‘shifts’ at our Postal Services display. We had a layout with miniature traffic-light controlled vehicles, & a large back panel with light-boxes relating to the ‘toy-train-like’ layout. I was equipped with a rubber, white coat & cue. The rubber to clean the tracks (better conductivity) & the cue to push miniature cars or spear naughty children with.

At some stage one afternoon I ‘escaped’ into a side lane, just as a short quite-famous TV chef personality did likewise. We exchanged pleasantries, & ever since I’ve kicked my self for not quizzing him on some certain matters of cheffing.

I trust you are enjoying a safe & reflective Easter weekend, & wish you safe travels & nice dreamings-with-interpretations.

ie Orl thuh best, mate!
🙂

I met a friend there and we had a bit of a wander around the Show after we realised that we were the only two people left outside the 2UE stand (David Oldfield did not broadcast from the Show), so the place was deserted after Stuart Bocking’s show finished. We got an odd look or two from the 2UE staff when we returned around 11am, by which time they’d even turned the speakers off so that it wasn’t possible to listen to David Oldfield if we had wanted to.

You certainly have some interesting tales from your PMG days Noel. It could make for a good Samuel’s Persiflage episode if you were able to talk about them in such a setting.

Happy Easter to you too Noel.
