An email to 2GB’s Andrew Moore and the rest of the Continuous Call Team
G’day Andrew,
I’m shattered about last night, but about the Jarryd Hayne incident…even as a die-hard Dogs fan, I don’t see any problem with it, there was no malice, and I’ll be ropeable if he gets suspended.
Have a great night guys. I’m not overly fussed about the season now, but I reckon the Broncos will be premiers, although if it’s Eels V Storm next week then it’ll be an Eels premiership.

I (as a fan of neither Canterbury of Parra) think he should be suspended.
I don’t believe for a moment that there was malice – but the consequences could have been catastrophic. There was nothing Hayne could have done to stop that try, yet he went in with the knees. He certainly was not playing at the ball. The onus was on him to not put himself in a position that he could knee another player in the head.
Having said that, I’ll eat my hat if he is suspended – he is too much of a publicity dream. I expect that he will either not be charged, or charged with a Grade 1 (and with a guilty plea not miss any matches)

Well you know how good my tips and predictions are. Hayne could very well be suspended for life following my public statement that he shouldn’t be suspended.
I actually thought he was trying to stop the try and didn’t see anything wrong with his move…however, I take your point that he shouldn’t have led with his knees. It’s now up to the judiciary to decide whether he could have reasonably known that he would knee a player in the head.
I’ll retract my “ropeable” statement, and reserve judgement until I hear the judiciary’s reasons for their decision, after they make it.

yes, and it is mighty convenient too…
a lame attempt to make it look like they are trying to ban thuggery which still keeps their big drawcard in the match.
nonetheless, the bloke is a skilled footballer and it will make for a better match.
