US Election 3:10pm Update: Obama Victory

November 5th, 2008 at 03:17pm

Well it’s over, Obama has more than enough to win, the only question now is by how much.
Electoral College Votes:
Fox News: Obama 220 – 138 McCain (Looks like the website has stopped working again)
ABC News: Obama 284 – 185 McCain
CBS News: Obama 283 – 145 McCain
CNN News: Obama 287 – 139 McCain
Popular vote: Obama 51% – 48% McCain (Obama leads by approximately 2.5 million votes)

House of Congress seats:
Democrats: 227
Republicans: 149
Change: Democrats +7

Senate seats:
Democrats: 55
Republicans 40
Change: Democrats +4

I’m not going to bite my tongue…I think that the US has made a very big mistake today, although I will congratulate them on continuing my run of getting every election that I’ve bothered to predict since 2004 wrong, both domestically and internationally, with the exception of the recent WA election.

Who wants to find a nice quiet out of the way planet for me which doesn’t have all of these awful election results from the last four years on it?

In all seriousness though, congratulations to Barack Obama, Joe Biden and the Democrats team, and best of luck for the next four years.

Samuel

    Samuel,

For what reasons do you see this as a mistake? It is a safer world today.

Mainly because I disagree with Obama on a large number of things (that tends to happen with people on the other side of the political divide) and I have watched his side of politics run various parts of Australia in to the ground.

As for it being a safer world today, sorry but I have to disagree with you on that one, and I doubt that pulling the troops out of Iraq just as we’re getting the upper hand is going to make the Iraqis agree with you either.

I could be wrong, or I could be right, time will tell, but for now, I seem to recall writing a 2600+ word editorial about this the other day and I’m far too tired to repeat it at the moment.

Boy you really have egg on your face, don’t you? Haven’t you comitted suicide yet?

    Get lost f***wit.

I’m going to let that comment run John because I can’t work out if it’s aimed at me of Wide Boy Jake. If it’s the latter, then I completely agree, if not, I’ll cop the criticism.

As for you Wide Boy Jake, do us all a favour and find a plummeting grand piano to stand under. Until you do, you’re banned.

    Welcome back, Sam.

Its probably a good thing you withdrew from running for Parliament last year…since 2004, your ideas on how the world should operate would appear to be out-of-step with the global community! (aside from WA of course)

I suppose that I could move to WA and stand for a council election.

You’re probably right Pen, and I’m quite happy throwing my few cents worth in from the sidelines for now anyway.
