Samuel’s Musician Of The Week

This week’s award goes to Jessy Greene and the feature song is “Brand New Day’. If you’re not familiar with the song, you may recall that an extract was used by the ABC in their television idents [1] earlier this year, prior to ABC TV and ABC 2 being relaunched as ABC1 and ABC2 respectively.

As I don’t appear to be able to locate a video of the song, the ABC ident with an extract of the song appears below.

I’m waiting on a fairytale
Its presence is my virtue
It’s a brand new day and I did not desert you
Nothing now can hurt us now
Pain’s the bottom dollar
I’m spending all I have earned
loving my tomorrows

Laugh at me if you want to
I’m so bashfully exposed
Here I stand before you
In the emperors new clothes

It’s a brand new day
I can feel a change is coming
It’s a brand new day
I can feel a change is coming

You’ve got a pretty little thing
A pretty little thing indeed
Everything you need is falling down at your feet
Can you leave this
You got to feed it if you stay
Think too hard and you’ll never get away

It’s a brand new day
I can feel a change is coming
It’s a brand new day
I can feel a change is coming

Laugh at me if you want to
I’m so bashfully exposed
Here I stand before you
In the emperors new clothes

It’s a brand new day
I can feel a change is coming
It’s a brand new day
I can feel a change is coming

Off topic, but whats your opinion of Caz and The Hack’s identities being revealed?

Very off-topic, but to be honest I don’t really care. That chapter of my life is over and I’ve moved on. Caz and I have chatted briefly a few times over the last couple of years.

A handful of people have mentioned Caz’s real name to me over the last two years (and one gave me real info with either a false name or alias for her), but it doesn’t bother me, I’m not out for revenge or anything like that. As far as I’m concerned we’ve settled our differences now.

That chapter of my life is over and I’ve moved on.

On that very appropriate note I just wanted to wish you a very happy 21st birthday Samuel! Congratulations on making it to this tremendous milestone!

Hopefully you will be able to use the wisdom and worldliness you’ve acquired through all these years to make a flying start into genuine adulthood – safe in the knowledge that you’re of legal drinking age should you ever choose to visit the States!

May you plan with courage and taste the sweetest successes!

Wishing you the very best,

G. Mortimer
