Andrew Barr destroys the Melbourne Cup Information and Footy Tips

It’s the ever evolving David Hicks melodrama

April 7th, 2007 at 01:59am

Good morning John,

It's very interesting that David Hicks' sworn statement to the British government says he was tortured by the US considering that he recently withdrew that statement. Which one was the truth? And how much bending of the truth is Hicks doing to get his way?

Many questions will need to be answered when he is allowed to talk to the media next year, and it's a pity that he can't talk to the media straight away as I think we could start a soap opera out of the David Hicks saga.

Regards,
Samuel Gordon-Stewart

Does anyone else think that there isn’t a question as to whether Hicks was tortured? I think the only question applicable is how much he got.

Surely it would contain the Idiots Guide to Terrorism.

    Sounds fairly likely Clayton.

To answer your first question, until the truth of the matter is revealed and accepted as the truth, the question of whether or not he was tortured will remain. I suspect that he was tortured, but I (probably thankfully) wasn’t there and can’t confirm it. The question of how much torture he received is realistically another way of asking the original question as, if he was not tortured then the answer is “none”

Purely by the fact that America passed bills to circumvent their laws prohibiting torture, that’s enough evidence for me, ignoring for a moment solitary confinement (for how many years?) and his living conditions.

And by my question, I didn’t intend to imply that he may have received none.

Whats happened to Sam? Maybe he is doing those radio reviews! Or sourcing more delicious creamy potato bakes.
