Dickson College’s 30 Year Celebrations As explained to a foreigner

Quote of the day

November 22nd, 2006 at 07:56am

I like this quote so much that I’m going to make it the quote of the day.

“It’s like a lottery, you have about the same chance of winning whether or not you buy a ticket” — 2CC’s Mike Jeffreys.

I don’t get it Samuel … you’d have NO chance of winning a lottery if you didn’t buy a ticket.

    I don’t follow either.

And the chances of winning the lottery with a ticket are fairly close to the chances without a ticket.

I can’t believe that such a simple humourous quote requires an explanation.

My next door neigbour, Dr Dan, is a Professor of statistics at RMIT and has done quite a lot of work for Tatterstalls. I will give him the url for this post and get him to explain it further Samuel.

Just went next door. He is passed out on his vinyl couch with a bottle of sherry spilt on the carpet. He can not be risen.

It’s all a pretty moot point anyway, as I think that all people who but lottery tickets should be sent to a concentration camp where they play Leni Riefenstahl films morning, noon and night.
