Samuel’s Persiflage #3 Ricky Gervais takes his podcast on a commercial exercise

Another remix of the original Samuel’s Persiflage intro

February 20th, 2006 at 07:11pm

Further to the music filled feedback segment in Samuel’s Persiflage #3, Chuck Berry has sent in this remix of the original Samuel’s Persiflage intro.

Chuck informs me that it is titled “How Odd!”

Wow! That’s awesome! Chuck Berry is a very talented gentleman.

  • 2. Samuel  |  February 20th, 2006 at 10:41 pm

He certainly is. I didn’t want to have the Samuel’s Persiflage feedback segment go on for too long which is why I left it out. Depending on the content of the next feedback segment it might make it in.

None the less, I’m very pleased to have it on the website, thanks Chuck!

Oh my god, that is the coolest song I’ve ever heard.

Chuck… thank you very much. You just made my day.

Sam, that HAS to be your new intro.

An award winning blog’s podcast needs a world class intro!

  • 5. flakey blondie samspam  |  February 21st, 2006 at 8:18 pm

Wow that intro will have to clean up the MTV awards later this year. I’m impressed!

  • 6. Chuck Berry  |  February 21st, 2006 at 10:23 pm

Just as long as I don’t get introduced as Sammy Davis Jr at the awards.

  • 7. Samuel  |  February 21st, 2006 at 10:41 pm

I’m happy with my current intro, but I’ll probably slip Chuck’s remix into the next feedback segment.

    Hey Sam,

Have you thought about releasing Chuck’s remix as a CD single, and maybe adding your persiflages as B-sides?

Given your popularity, I reckon you’d have no problem getting a record company to put it out for you — maybe Shock in Sydney?

Maybe you could put the word out to readers to submit MS Paint art for the sleeve. Proceeds could be ploughed back into the website.

I know you’ve already released it for free, but not everyone had an iPod — CD is still the most convenient for most.

    I’d buy one!

Actually, you could call it ‘It’s Just Not Normal — the Music Of Samuel’s Persiflage’. I’ve just listened to episode three and loved the remixes and especially Chuck’s song. Very talented bloke!

You could include the controversial first cut, your new intro, and all the remixes, and your filler music. There’s enough material there for a whole album, or at least an EP.

I reckon you’d sell more than the average band, maybe even get in the charts! Imagine that! Bigger than Schnappi!

All this, of course, is assuming Mr Berry consents and gets a share of the profits for his work.

Helloooooooooooo …….. anybody around ? — The site seems to be deserted !

  • 12. Chuck Berry  |  February 23rd, 2006 at 3:13 pm

I am willing to help compile an EP. I will of course donate the original song ‘It’s Just not Normal’ to the enterprise. Any proceeds of mine can go to the up keep of this blog.

I will get onto this project Wonka. An MS paint competition is a brilliant idea for the cover.

A SGS EP will sell more than ‘The Veronicas’.

    Good on you Chuck!

Over to you, Sam… what do you think? I can give you some names of some A&R people to approach if you like.

  • 14. Chuck Berry  |  February 23rd, 2006 at 6:18 pm

I will do another original song.

  • 15. wonko the sane  |  February 23rd, 2006 at 9:13 pm

Chuck, props to you brother. Ironies upon ironies. I love it.

Sam, you could bypass the middle man altogther and just put it out yourself over the internet.

But the idea of any of these songs getting into the charts is so pleasing going commercial is almost obligitory. You might even get a budget from a record company to do a video clip. I’m thinking a montage of producing The Persiflage.

Also, have you thought about selling the original intro as a ringtone? I’d put it on my phone and I HATE ringtones.

    Sam?

And, chuck, yeah, with the amazing power of those evil people at TSSH and other just as nasty places, beating any number of indie bands onto the charts with your incredible remix would be a cinch.

  • 17. Samuel  |  February 23rd, 2006 at 9:42 pm

Interesting idea, but I’m not interested in releasing an album.

  • 18. wonko the sane  |  February 24th, 2006 at 1:01 am

    Why not?

  • 19. Samuel  |  February 24th, 2006 at 1:13 am

Too much work, not enough time. I’m busy enough as it is. If somebody else wants to work with Chuck on an album though…

  • 20. Chuck Berry  |  February 24th, 2006 at 1:52 pm

I will get started next week, But only with Samuel’s permission.

  • 21. wonko the sane  |  February 24th, 2006 at 3:36 pm

    I’ll help!

  • 22. Samuel  |  February 24th, 2006 at 3:43 pm

Permission granted, have fun. I do request that the original work is attributed to me though (the original intro that is).

  • 23. wonko the sane  |  February 25th, 2006 at 2:42 am

sam, if this thing ever happens, it won’t be just attributed to you… it IS you. It’s more Sam than Sam, more Gordon than Stewart.

Come in here dear boy, have a cigar, you’re gonna go far!

  • 24. Chuck Berry  |  February 25th, 2006 at 11:45 am

Your gonna fly high your never gonna die

I think an SGS tribute album will draw Syd Barrett from his self imposed exile.
