Samuel’s Musicians Of The Week Yet Another John Kerr Update

The people who misuse my name

January 16th, 2006 at 12:05am

It would appear that somebody is posting under my name at a site that mostly contains people who dislike me. The list of posts by the person pretending to be me can be found here.

So as to not confuse the matter by posting there myself, I will reply to a couple comments here.

Firstly, if the person who is posting as me had done any research they would have discovered that I don’t like the green Action buses, and would much rather ride an orange one. Apart from which, the bus pictured is either an Irisbus or a Scania. The older orange buses (pictured below) were the ones built by Renault and fitted out by Ansair.
ACTION Bus

As correctly stated by at least one person on that site I am 18, however another numbscull then decided that I’m not old enough to drive…WRONG!!! I just chose not to learn…I have no need at this stage, buses and bicycles are just fine thankyou very much.

Unless carefully created, songs with no bass whatsoever often sound like they are missing something…that being said, the bass doesn’t have to be overpowering. I personally prefer music from the 50’s through to the early 80’s, see my Musician(s) Of The Week Award for more details.

I think that just about covers it. I’m sure there is some law against posting under someone elses name without their permission. I will be seeking legal advice on the matter.

I have now posted a clarification over there. Originally I decided not to, but have since decided that it might be the best way to deal with this matter.

My post can be seen at http://www.canberracruises.com/forum/showthread.php?t=728 and I have mirrored it below.

    Clarification from Samuel Gordon-Stewart
I will only post this once as I’m sure you’re all sick of me.

I would like to set the record straight about comments left on this forum under the name “Samuel Gordon Stewart”. They are not mine, and I’m sure any admin could see very quickly that the user writing those posts does not use an email address listed on my contact page at https://samuelgordonstewart.com/contact
An admin could also confirm that the account I am writing this post with is using an official samuelgordonstewart.com email address.

Just to clarify a couple things, I am 18 years old and decided to not learn to drive. I have never had a need for it, and I am happy with my combination of buses (the older orange ones, can’t stand the new green ones), walking and bicycle riding.

I am not a fan of Summernats, but if you are one of the sensible people who doesn’t feel a need to drive like a maniac at odd hours of the morning then I have no problem with you.

I like 2CC because I enjoy talk radio. I find it entertaining and informative. I’m not a fan of modern music, generally preferring music from the 1950’s through to the early 1980’s, there are a few exceptions to that, but not many.

I wish Canberra Cruises success, I appreciate that genuine car enthusiasts are generally well behaved and take a lot of pride in their vehicles. It is nice to have pride in something.

I would request that the person misusing my name please stop or I will be forced to seek legal advice. I don’t want to have to sue anyone, but I will if I have to. Alternatively if an admin could delete/suspend that account I would be grateful.

I hope this helps to clear things up a bit.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thankyou for your time, and have a nice day.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Samuel Gordon-Stewart

What if there’s another Samuel Gordon Stewart out there?

Would he/she (not implying anything here, I just strive to be non gender/race specific in all my communication) be able to sue you for putting his name to this blog?

Also, what if someone was using “Samuel Gordon Stewart” to post on a blog or forum as a nickname, much like “Donald Duck”, “Mickey Mouse”, “Nattie”, “Charles Manson”, “Ted Bundy” or “John b1_b5”?

Likewise, if someone bore an uncanny resemblance to you, they could be nicknamed “Samuel Gordon Stewart” by their peers, and since they were known as that, they may be able to rightly use the moniker in the public arena to identify themselves.

Indeed, since you have become an international celebrity and famed dog owner, people may take to naming their canines in tribute to you, which is sure to add to this legal minefield.

It is only a matter of time before we have a Melbourne Cup winner named Samuel Gordon Stewart, but looking at the bright side, I think you would have good claim to a percentage of the prizemoney from the big race.

You just have to understand you are an inspiration to many people Samuel, and it could be understandable that some people who aren’t as sophisticated as you adopt your persona to enhance their credibility … as a matter of fact, I’ll bet we’ll see a trend towards people naming their babies after you, and I am aware of at least three people who intend to change their name by deed poll to “Samuel Gordon Stewart” to escape any possible legal ramifications from your threat to sue.

Sorta reminds me of the Goodies Rolf Harris episode.

If people have a good reason (such as one you suggested) for using my name, then so be it. Unfortunately the person using my name on that website was clearly pretending to be me and stirring up trouble. The admins have since said that they will remove that account.

The main issue I have with people misusing my name is that it can appear in search engine results, effectively leaving potential future employers with a bad taste, especially if the misuse of my name is convincing. I think in this case it was fairly obvious that the person was not me, but they did fool a few.

A similar incident occured in the middle of the Spin Starts Here fiasco, in that case I was able to have the post ammended to reflect that I was not responsible for it.

That’s why Supercalifragilisticexpielidocious would have been a much better name Sam, lazy people would abbreviate it to just Super.
