A Visit From A Possum

January 9th, 2006 at 05:26pm

Canberra, with it’s surrounding bushland, has quite a bit of wildlife, some of them have chosen to live in urban gardens but remain mostly unseen. Occasionally they venture out and are sighted by residents.

Yesterday the possum which lives on the next block paid my block a visit, and with the heat, took shelter on top of a bush covered outdoor cupboard. Here are some photos of this nice possum.

Nattie wanted to chase the possum, but was restrained. The possum eventually went on its merry way at about 8:30pm, after a bit over 12 hours on top of the cupboard.

    Hi Sam,
This has nothing to do with the very cute possum… But by any chance where you in Melbourne last weekend? I was in St Kilda & I saw a dog that looked suspiciously like Nattie, being led by a dude that looked like you! My boyfriend and I were both puzzled for a while, so I thought I’d ask.
    Big smiles, Punky

I love that you are so liberal that you even think fauna make rational choices about their living arrangements.

My brother has a family of possums around his place Sam, about 5 or 6 of them and each night my brothers wife feeds them fruit in the hope they’ll leave her plants alone.
    So far so good…..
